laws about airsoft orange tip

I was wondering wat is the law about the orange tip of an airsoft gun. is it against the law to paint it? also i have to cross state lines to get to wilcox so is that a factor? Thanx guys

We probably cannot advise you with what you can or cannot do with the tip of your gun, but I can say that very few people have orange tips, and of those, the majority are from new purchases.

I am not a lawyer, nor am I an approved council of any sort, but my interpretation of that whole bit of law is that it applies to the sale and manufacturing of the airsoft stuff. Interestingly, it includes a person selling or giving it to someone personally, which makes me wonder if renting a gun requires an orange tip to be present.

che is right you can not tell you what to do with your tip, only thang we can tell you to do is make sure you have a gun case that you keep your gun it, and out of sight during transport.

che is correct..the laws are for manufacturers that sell and import into the US...domestic production does not have to comply on this...(i.e. why the Daisey co2 pistols don't have any markings..)
the more important thing is to have your gun cased.I'm sure that Dino would agree that cops care WAYYYYYY more about weapons out in the open as opposed to whether there is an orange tip or not.....

If it is a concern, there are available orange tip barrel blocks that can be used for transport, or you can keep the orange tip and add a more tactical version when in play (via screw on-screw off threads).

You are supposed to have six millimeters of orange shown on tip

I thought the law for florida was 1/3 of the tip had to be orange but it must be different for alabama but i have no orange tips its illegal if you get caught

The 6mm response is specifically federal regulations. Your states may vary.

If you don't get caught nothing is illegal

As I've said before, I can't advise you to do one or the other. But be careful when you transport the weapon (replica or otherwise).

I probably won't because I don't have a gun case only a baseball bag and the muzzle sticks out. Then again camo isn't needed huha

Paint it whatever you like, and use this for travel.
